International pump user conference to co-locate with Afriwater 2009

Exhibition organiser, Specialised Exhibitions, has announced that the top level International pump user conference, IPUC 2009, will be co-located with Afriwater 2009 at the MTN Expo Centre, NASREC, in September, together with the high profile WISA conference.

IPUC 2009 is the leading pump conference in South Africa and is relevant to all industries where pumps are the vital heart of their operation including mining, petrochemical, industrial, bulk water and waste water industries.

Says John Kaplan, Managing Director at Specialised Exhibitions: “The two-day conference and two additional workshops will bring delegates up-to-date with the latest developments in the pump industry worldwide, with leading experts, both local and international, sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience.”

Pumping systems are a major expense item in water and waste management and water process control, and key industry topics will be included in the conference such as pumping systems and life cycle costing, current tried and tested solutions, as well as problem solving techniques using the latest technology.

“Well known and highly respected international speakers will be at IPUC 2009,” says IPUC Conference Director Harry Rosen, “including Dr. Gunnar Hovstadius, PhD, focussing on pumping systems, energy related issues and Life Cycle Costing; Steve Schofield, Technical Director at the British Pump Manufacturers Association speaking about the European Commission programmes and energy related issues in Europe, USA and South Africa; and Ken Hall, President of Europump and at the forefront of the European pump sector’s policy on Eco-Design and the European pump industry’s energy and environmental programme.”

Zia Tomes, Exhibition Manager Afriwater 2009, 2011 and WISA 2010 sees great synergy between the events and the addition of IPUC 2009 will mean reaching an even broader spectrum of the water sector.

“Renew, Regenerate, Refurbish is the theme for this year’s Afriwater exhibition and for the high profile co-located WISA conference,” says Tomes. “Afriwater provides a platform for the exposure and sharing of revolutionary technological advancements, state of the art products and innovative ideas across the broad spectrum of the water sector and, together with WISA, the representative body for the water industry, and through the IPUC conference, we will be actively engaging all those involved in water services delivery, water services management and the wider water sector.”

Kerneels Esterhuyse, Technical Director at WISA added that, “the Water Institute of South Africa focuses on issues pertaining to processes of water and waste water as well as the distribution of water and collection of water waste effluent, and we see the Afriwater and WISA conference platform as an opportunity to bring professionals in the water industry together to discuss latest developments and solutions within this arena. Adding IPUC 2009 to this platform increases our reach to all those involved in this critical water sector, and we see it as a very positive addition.”

Afriwater 2009, IPUC 2009 and the WISA Conference take place at the MTN Expo Centre, NASREC, from 8 -10 September.

“Exhibitors have a unique opportunity to showcase their developments and services to a specifically targeted market,” explains Tomes, ”and we are anticipating high numbers of decision makers and senior management as visitors to the show. Together, we can find solutions”

Preserving our future by looking after our water

Afriwater 2009, an exhibition that focuses on the critical need for sustainable water and waste management and water process control, leads the way in providing a platform to showcase trends, products, services and solutions that will benefit short-term and long-term water preservation and, ultimately, preserving our future. There is no life without water.

‘Renew, Regenerate, Refurbish’ is the theme for this year’s Afriwater 2009 and for the high profile co-located conference, organised by the Water Institute of South Africa (WISA).

“Water and waste management and water process control are critical issues that need to be vocalised and discussed within a forum such as Afriwater 2009,” says Zia Tomes, Exhibition Manager Afriwater 2009, 2011 and WISA 2010, “where leading industry players join together to find effective solutions and where innovative products and materials, technological developments and services can be seen and demonstrated.”

“Together with WISA, the representative body for the water industry, we are actively looking for ways to engage all those involved in water services delivery and water services management, and the exhibition and conference are ideal platforms for this.”

Leading, award-winning organiser Specialised Exhibitions, in a joint venture partnership with WISA, has taken a long-term view on these critical needs and has invested in a three-year programme that embraces Afriwater 2009, Afriwater 2011 and the 2010 WISA Conference and Exhibition at the Durban International Conference Centre.

“We are committed to assisting in this critical area of need, and have invested time, money and resources to ensure it success and to drive greater awareness as to what needs to be done,” says Gary Corin, Chief Operating Officer at Specialised Exhibitions.

By popular demand, Afriwater is now based at its new home at The Johannesburg Expo Centre, NASREC. Says Tomes, “The new venue provides excellent facilities for a show of this nature, and it’s an ideal location being only fifteen minutes away from the Johannesburg CBD, offering ample secure parking, and easy access.”

Afriwater, running from 8-10 September this year, is a focussed stand-alone show that strongly supports the vision of WISA and the industry it serves - with all the benefits of a marketing budget directed solely at this niche, critical market. It is the ideal platform for local and international exhibitors to showcase their latest products, services, innovations and developments, and provides an excellent, results-driven, marketing opportunity that enables exhibitors to reach more customers in a three-day period than a sales force can in three months (research findings CEIR).

First launched in 1994, it’s an established show that attracts high-level decision makers and the WISA conference also attracts high profile delegates that spend time at both the conference and the exhibition.

Afriwater is organised by Specialised Exhibitions, recent winners of the EXSA Award for Best Exhibition Organisers and internationally recognised for its leading brand shows including the 40,000 visitor strong Electra Mining Africa. Its highly experienced exhibition management team, with in-depth knowledge of the industry, have the full support and endorsement of WISA and the Association of Waste Management, assistance from the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF), and a local and international network of contacts across Chambers of Commerce, Trade Consuls and Agencies, with strong marketing support into Africa.
