On 27 February 2025, the Johannesburg Expo Centre played host to the prestigious AAXO ROAR Awards—a celebration of innovation, grit, and growth in the exhibitions industry. With the theme Forging Strength: Celebrating Resilience and Innovation, the event recognised the industry’s most impactful organisers and platforms.
For Specialised Exhibitions, the night was filled with well-earned celebration.
Two Major Wins That Reinforce Industry Leadership
Specialised Exhibitions, a division of Montgomery Group, took home two significant awards:
- Best Trade Exhibition over 6,000sqm – Electra Mining Africa
- Distinction in Marketing (under 6,000sqm) – Securex South Africa

Led by Portfolio Director Charlene Hefer, Electra Mining Africa delivered its most successful edition to date:

- 40,000sqm of exhibition space
- 39,883 visitors (a 27% increase from 2022)

The event drew high-quality visitors from mining, manufacturing, engineering, and logistics sectors, providing a platform to showcase cutting-edge technology and innovation.
“This award is a reflection of the positive impact Electra Mining has on our industry,” said Hefer.

The Securex team was honoured with a Distinction in Marketing for their innovative and results-driven campaign that enhanced engagement across digital and on-site platforms.
“Securex is Africa’s top security and safety event, and this award confirms the value of our marketing approach,” said Portfolio Director Mark Anderson.

- The Johannesburg edition takes place in June
- A brand-new Cape Town edition launches later in the year
- Co-located with A-OSH Expo, Facilities Management Expo, and Firexpo South Africa
Securex continues to evolve, offering live demos, K9 and drone zones, and curated learning content for visitors.
