Scam Notifications

Exhibitors are being targeted by fake organisations. Be vigilant.

9thApril 2019

We are hearing more frequently of third party companies contacting exhibitors to sell them show specific visitor databases. This is a scam. It is important for you to know that Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery never sells any visitor data or exhibitor lists for shows.

Anyone claiming to have visitor data is fraudulent. We strongly urge all exhibitors to be vigilant against such organisations, who do not represent Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery in any way.

Exhibitor data is sometimes shared with key partners such as our official media partners who may contact you to discuss show related advertising opportunities. If you are contacted in this regard but are unsure of the validity of the request, please check the marketing toolkit of the relevant show or contact the relevant marketing manager.

Please also ensure that you inform your exhibition, marketing and finance teams about the risk of scams and to be vigilant. There have been occasions where exhibitors are contacted by illegitimate third party companies for entries into bogus show guides. They may use existing event branding and may appear genuine. It could be a misleading form, which resembles an organiser’s Free Catalogue Listing Service, inviting exhibitors to sign and return the form for an entry in an online directory. Doing so contracts the purchaser into a three-year, non-retractable agreement and nonpayment is aggressively followed up. We caution you to carefully read the small print before signing any document and if you have any doubts, rather check the show website or contact the exhibition manager first.

We reiterate. These companies have no connection with Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery or any of our events. Their modus operandi is to deliberately target exhibitors who have recently exhibited or are about to exhibit. Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery does NOT share any data with these companies.

We reach out to all our exhibitors to take care. If you are suspicious of any service being offered to you, check it out first. We are here to support you.
